Funding desk · About the data
Data, methods & open API.
Where every record comes from, how often it refreshes, what is counted, and how to reuse it.
How the desk works.
A small Cloudflare Worker asks each source’s official public API for new records every 6 hours (at 17 minutes past midnight, 6 a.m., noon and 6 p.m. UTC) and stores them. These pages read that store. If a source fails, the desk keeps its last good records and marks the source as retrying. If the live store can’t be reached, the pages show the snapshot saved when the site was last built, with its date.
- Nothing is estimated. Counts and sums are computed from the records each source returned for the stated window. Where a source doesn’t publish an amount, the desk shows a dash.
- Every record links to its source. The source page is the authoritative record; check it before you act.
- Relevance filters are simple word filters (child, children, pediatric, adolescent, youth, infant, early childhood and similar). They miss some relevant records and include a few that aren’t; the “how it’s counted” note under each number says exactly what was counted.
- No personal data is collected. The pages set no cookies and load no trackers. Investigator and author names appear only as the funder or journal published them.
Sources
The children’s arts fundraisers come from a curated list built from public campaign pages (GlobalGiving’s public sitemap and project pages, Givebutter and Classy campaign pages), using only facts shown on those pages, and checked on Oct 29, 2026. The WHO Global Health Observatory API was returning server errors on Oct 29, 2026, so child-mortality context comes from World Bank Open Data, which republishes the UN Inter-agency Group for Child Mortality Estimation figures. GrantNav search pages are not used because their robots.txt asks crawlers not to; UK grants come from the 360Giving Datastore API instead.
